On September 29, 2023 at the young age of 24, we lost Lavan to a senseless act of road rage and gun violence.

Lavan got involved in FCA in 2019.  He quickly became a part of the FCA community through our Mid-Atlantic college camp, serving as a huddle leader at our multi-sports camp, impacting younger athletes through our summer huddles and serving as an intern with FCA. 

He was about relationships and you could see Christ in him over and over in how he interacted with everyone he came in contact with.  He was joyful.  He was an encourager.  He had deep empathy for others and he cared deeply about unity.  Lavan loved people fiercely and he impacted so many lives in his short time with us, especially at our summer camps. 

To honor Lavan and keep his legacy vibrant through our FCA camps we created the Lavan Wilson Philadelphia Camp Scholarship Fund. This Fund will subsidize the cost for Philly college, high school and middle school athletes to attend FCA camp and to have the opportunity to grow in their relationship with Christ, improve in their sport and as a leader.

Not only will this fund keep Lavan's legacy vibrant, but each year we will offer two full-scholarship awards to honor and remember Lavan. One college athlete will receive a full ride to our MidAtlantic College Camp and one high school athlete will receive a full ride to our multi-sports camp. These scholarships will go to student athletes who through a relationship with Jesus exemplify joy, encouragement, empathy and unity in their relationships with others.  These are qualities that most represent who Lavan was.
